Contract Vehicles

What is a Contract Vehicle?

A government contract vehicle is a pre-established agreement or contract mechanism that enables government agencies to procure goods and services from approved vendors without going through the lengthy and complex traditional procurement process each time. These vehicles are typically multi-year agreements that outline terms and conditions, pricing structures, and other essential details.

Other Transaction Agreements (OTAs) are contractual arrangements that possess legal enforceability and can be utilized by governmental entities to include industry and academia in a diverse array of research and prototyping endeavors. They are not classified as conventional procurement contracts, grants, or cooperative agreements. Consequently, these entities are typically exempt from the federal statutes and guidelines pertaining to government procurement contracts, such as the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).
